the Food Police need to get a Life; nagg ing never motivated anyone to Change. A s for the bacon-topped pie: if the amou nt of sugar in the filling was cut by 1 /3 to 1/2 the usual, and if the pie was served Warm, it might actually be tast y...in small slices. As for the grease: any pie baker knows that 'tis common t o 'dot the filling with butter' before applying top crust/lattice. Pie Crust w as once made with Lard. Fast Food fries were fried in lard, back in the Dinosa ur Era before some of the Food Snobs we re born. Cooks used to keep a container in the kitchen for bacon drippings, an d used that to season food. Thankfully, we've come a long way since then. Once in a while a little 'weirdness' is fun . People who have no sense of adventure : More for the Rest of us...although my share of the Velveeta-Spam loaf is up for grabs. (It's a Sodium thang.)
