How Stars Changed Over the Decade

While most celebrities change their looks over the years, just a few change their personas. The celebrities featured here dramatically changed their images over the past decade -- some for better, some for worse.

Lindsay Lohan
The freckle-faced actress who was once praised by The New York Times for her performance in The Parent Trap, is today more commonly referred to as a "train wreck". From DUIs and stints in rehab to public fights with exes and her father, Lindsay Lohan has been a tabloid target for most of the past decade. Now the star is headed to India to film a BBC documentary, reportedly either on impoverished children or on sex trafficking. Will giving back change the party girl's behavior? We hope so!

Nicole Richie
Nicole Richie hit the Hollywood scene as Paris Hilton's partner in crime on The Simple Life. The socialite quickly became known as one of Hollywood's rebels – with a heroin bust and DUI following the finale of the show. Once the star started dating Joel Madden in 2007, her bad girl image faded to the background. Now, with two kids, a book release and an online charity to help mothers in need, Richie is one of Hollywood's favorite moms.

Dwayne Johnson
We first knew him as The Rock – a professional wrestler notorious for his killer People's Elbow and his signature line "Know Your Role, Shut your Mouth!" After dabbling in a few movies and television, the WWE star left wrestling in the ring and pursued his acting career in 2006. Now, after starring in flicks Get Smart and Be Cool, Duane Johnson finally knows his role – and we like this one better!

Britney started off the decade on top of the world. Her sophomore album Oops I did it Again, sold over a million copies in its first week of release in 2000. After a break up from Justin Timberlake, a two-day marriage to a friend in Vegas, things came crashing down for the pop queen. Within the last two years, the once-innocent teen queen has been divorced, lost custody of her children, and been placed on involuntary psychiatric hold twice. While some say the star has made her comeback with her successful 'Circus' tour and a new man by her side, the image of the star
shaving her head is a hard one to forget.

America's favorite Hollywood hunk started off the decade by wedding Jennifer Aniston. When the two split in 2005, the rugged star ditched his long hair and started dating Angelina Jolie. Now, in addition to his good looks and superior acting skills, Brad Pitt is a family man (he has six kids) and true humanitarian From building eco-friendly homes in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina to making a
$2 million donation to the Global Health Committee in order to open up a health clinic for children with tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS in Ethiopia, it's no wonder he's one of Time's's 100 Most Influential People in the World.

While Johnny Depp was certainly talented in the '80s and '90s, the actor has soared in the last 10 years. Appearing in over 20 movies this decade, Johnny Depp is now considered to be a "surefire box-office draw". Named one of Entertainment Weekly's Entertainer of the Decade and People's Sexiest Man Alive twice this decade – the Pirates of the Caribbean star has become a fascinating Hollywood icon.
